Charting the Path to Bifröst: competition report published in IEEE BITS

Our report on Charting the Path to Bifröst has been published in IEEE BITS the Information Theory Magazine. It covers the first Data-to-Information (D2I) competition held in conjunction with the European School of Information Theory, ESIT 2026, in Nordfjordeid, Norway. The competition brought students together to work on wireless localization, robust learning, and machine unlearning, connecting information theory with practical problems in data science and machine learning.

I am grateful to Alejandro Lancho, Khac-Hoang Ngo, and Stefano Rini for their leadership, and to Ricardo Vázquez Álvarez for his close collaboration. Thanks also to Chunlei Li, Hsuan-Yin Lin, and the ESIT 2026 organizing team for their hospitality and support.

Congratulations to the winning KUDFI team—Esraa Fahmy Othman, Yu Tian, and Hang Zou—as well as the other finalist teams and all participants. Contributing to this initiative was an opportunity to learn from colleagues across the IEEE Information Theory Society and to support research training through practical experience, scientific exchange, and international collaboration.

我们关于“Charting the Path to Bifröst(通往彩虹桥之路)”的报告已在《IEEE BITS the Information Theory Magazine》发表。报告介绍了首届与欧洲信息理论学校联合举办的D2I(Data-to-Information,数据到信息)大赛。
